Find the Sheet Metal Career That Fits You

Service sheet metal workers specialize in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC systems already in operation.

Apprentice servicing an air conditioning unit

This path requires strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical knowledge, as service technicians are responsible for keeping systems running efficiently and resolving issues when they arise.

Typical work includes:

  • Diagnosing HVAC system problems
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Repairing heating and cooling equipment
  • Testing and balancing airflow
  • Ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently

Service technicians often work independently and build strong problem-solving skills while helping customers keep their systems running smoothly.

One Trade. Multiple Opportunities.

No matter which path you choose, every sheet metal worker shares the same mission: designing, building, and maintaining the systems that keep indoor air clean and comfortable.

Through the Local 1 Apprenticeship Program, you’ll gain the training, experience, and support needed to build a successful career in any of these specialized areas.
